It’s been a long time since we did an Ask, Linger, and Share sermon prep prompt. Could I encourage you to find a quiet spot with your bible sometime between now and Sunday morning to do the following? Start with prayer.

Lord, as I hold your word, I hold the most precious resource. The God of the universe has spoken to me.

Keep me from neglectful hearing this Sunday. Don’t let the enemy snatch up what you want me to hear before it can sink down deep.

Keep me from superficial hearing. Don’t allow any trial or testing I am facing right now cast a shadow of doubt over your word, keeping it from taking root.

Keep me from preoccupied hearing. Don’t allow the cares and riches and pleasures of life to outshine the glory and goodness of your word.

As I read now and as I gather with your people this Sunday, give me ears to hear with good-soil hearing. I ask humbly, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Read Acts 13:13-52, our passage for this Sunday.

Ask:

  • What does this passage reveal about God/Jesus?
  • What does this passage reveal about me?
  • What would an unbelieving response to this passage look like?
  • What would a believing response to this passage look like?

Linger. Don’t move on until at least one thought you can savor throughout the day has been impressed upon you.

Share. Look for an opportunity today (and throughout the week) to share that thought with someone else.

This Sunday Rob Lister will be preaching and Kenny Clark will be leading our sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare?

In the evening we will gather again at 6pm to proclaim Jesus’ death through the Lord’s Supper followed by a rich family time. Steve Earle, one of our current elder team members, will be preparing us for communion with a short message from the Word.

See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry!

The Lord’s Prayer (It’s Yours) arranged and sung by The Worship Initiative

Father, let Your kingdom come
Father, let Your will be done
On earth as in Heaven
Right here in my heart
