Do you feel the world is broken? WE DO!
Do you feel the shadows deepen? WE DO!
But do you know that all the dark won’t stop
The light from getting through? WE DO!
Do you wish that you could see it all made new? WE DO!
Last week, chapter four of 2 Corinthians left off with the encouragement to “look not to the things that are seen (which are transient/temporary) but to the things that are unseen (which are eternal)” and the corresponding promise of an ever-renewing inner self despite an ever-wasting away outer self. As we come to chapter five this Sunday, Paul continues this train of thought with another seemingly paradoxical reality: good courage (vv. 6-8) despite continued groaning (vv. 2-4).
As our news this week (both local and global) has continued to present us with a steady stream of “seen things” and “deepening shadows” we need to fix our eyes together on the source of this good courage. This Sunday, Moyer Hubbard will be preaching 2 Corinthians 5:1-21 for us and helping us find do this by answering three important questions. Where are you going? What drives you? And who are you?
Caleb Bilti will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare? And let’s pray for one another that our strength would be renewed through a fresh sight of Jesus…
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
David’s root… the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
From every people and tribe, every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God
To reign with the Son
See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry.
