“We do not lose heart.”

Paul bookends chapter four of Second Corinthians with that statement (4:1, 16) and in between, he packs reasons for a hope that outshines all that would threaten to discourage us. Oh, how we need this chapter of the Bible. As you prepare your heart for Sunday, start by taking some time to sit and reflect on the things that currently threaten to make you lose heart. Discouragements. Disappointments. Griefs.

Then spend some time reading Second Corinthians chapter four slowly, asking the Spirit to enlighten the eyes of your heart to see and believe these “things that are unseen (18)” that promise the power to bring deep inner renewal even when the externals of life drag us downward.

This Sunday morning, Randy Gruendyke will be preaching 2 Corinthians 4:1-18 and Kenny Clark will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare? And let’s pray for one another that we would not lose heart, but rather, that we would be “strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy (Colossians 1:11).”

See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry.

I Set My Hope on Jesus

I set my hope on Jesus
My rock, my only trust
Who set His heart upon me first
I set my hope on Jesus
