Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son… (Hebrews 1:1)
When the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, God was no longer speaking by proxy but in person. The author of Hebrews goes on in the next four verses to describe just who that baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger truly is and what God has now spoken by Him.
For the next five Sundays of Advent, Hebrews 1:1-4 will renew our amazement over the incarnation and help us exult in the glory of our Savior as we take it phrase by phrase, savoring each magnificent truth.
The final prophet through whom God has spoken is…
DEC 1 A Son! (Rob Lister)
DEC 8 The Heir of all Things (Eric Twisselmann)
DEC 15 The Creator Come as Creature (Junior Jamreonvit)
DEC 22 The Radiance and Imprint of God (Erik Thoennes)
DEC 29 The Redeeming King of Heaven (Randall Gruendyke)
Would you pray for each of our preaching team as they prepare? This series should be a great opportunity to invite someone who doesn’t know Jesus to consider just who the Bible claims He is. Let’s keep praying that as the word goes out the Spirit would come down and more people would be drawn to trust Christ.
See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry!
