“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:33).”

“I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26).”

As evidence of his apostleship in Second Corinthians 3, Paul points to the reality that this new covenant transformation had in fact taken place among those in the church at Corinth. “You show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts (v.3).” Teasing out the superiority of this new covenant and how this “writing” takes place, Paul says it’s analogous to (and better than!) how Moses’ face would shine with the radiant glory of God after having been in his presence on Mount Sinai.

“We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18).”

Beholding Jesus, we become like Jesus. This is exactly why we gather each week to worship together as the family of God, to behold Jesus together. This Sunday morning, Erik Thoennes will be preaching 2 Corinthians 3:1-18 and Kenny Clark will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare? And let’s pray for one another, that the Spirit would help us keep “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2).”

See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry.

His Glory and My Good by CityAlight

I have seen my Father’s glory
Revealed in Jesus Christ
And the more that I behold Him
The more He satisfies
When I gaze upon His beauty
When I see Him as I should
Then my eyes are lifted upward
For His glory and my good
