This past Sunday we were helped by Sean McDowell to take great confidence that “in fact Christ has been raised from the dead (1 Cor. 15:20).” Jesus resurrection really happened.
So, why does it really matter? Hope.
The apostle Peter described it like this.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:3-4).”
The author of Hebrews pictured our relationship to Jesus’ resurrection as a massive anchor of hope.
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf (Hebrews 6:19–20).”
This Sunday our own Jacob Daniel will help us hear how the apostle Paul answered this question from First Corinthians 15:1-28 as Kenny Clark leads us in sung worship. Would you pray for each as we prepare? And please join us in continuing to pray for and inviting family, friends, and neighbors who are still asking this same question.
Our Christianity Explored continues this Sunday at 11am upstairs in room 204. Is there someone you might invite and attend the class with? We are looking to the Gospel of Mark and asking the question, “Who is this Jesus?” There’s still time to join the class or bring an enquirer.
Join us in the evening at 6pm for child dedications, baptisms, and family time. Three families will be dedicating children and we will witness the baptism of three among our Grace community. We will also get to hear from Jonathan and Joceyln Broyles, who serve as Grace partners in Thailand as they are in town for Biola’s upcoming commencement.
See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry.

The Risen Christ (Doxology) by Phil Madeira and Keith Getty
O Word of God so clear and true
Renew our minds to trust in You
And give to us the Bread of Life
That we may know the risen Christ
