The Christian life is a life of faith. We are to believe God’s promises and walk in the confident trust that He will be faithful to every last one. God has not told us everything that we might like to know as we face the future, but He’s told us everything we need to know to live lives of faith.

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (2 Peter 1:3–4)

We’ve been given precious and very great promises and through them (believing them, that is) we may grow.

This Sunday we return to our God Meant It for Good series with Genesis 46:31-47:31, and we left off with the Lord making some precious and very great promises to Jacob.

“I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation. I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again, and Joseph’s hand shall close your eyes.” (Genesis 46:3-4)

In chapter 47 we will see how God begins to make good on those promises, and seeing His faithfulness in the past ought to stir up our faith in His future grace.

As you prepare to join us this Sunday for worship, would you take some time to read ahead through the passage that will be preached and pray for yourself and for all that will be here that God would strengthen our faith in His future grace? Randall Gruendyke will be preaching and Drew Brokke will be leading our sung worship. Please pray for each as they prepare.

See you Sunday!
