Have you ever wondered why we call these weekly posts Sermon Prep? Isn’t that the preacher’s responsibility? He prepares the sermon and we show up and listen. Yes, but listening to a sermon is something we can prepare for, too.

In an article called How to Listen to a Sermon, Phil Ryken (pastor, theologian, and current president of Wheaton College) suggests the following:

With a soul that is prepared, a mind that is alert, a Bible that is open, a heart that is receptive, and a life that is ready to spring into action.

Take some time this week to read his article linked above and follow his suggestions for preparing your soul to hear God’s word preached this Sunday. Jackson Randall will be preaching Luke 5:33-6:11 and Kenny Clark will be leading our sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare?

See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry!

House of the Lord by the Worship Initiative feat. Davy Flowers

We were the beggars, now we’re royalty
We were the prisoners, now we’re running free
We are forgiven, accepted, redeemed by His grace
Let the house of the Lord sing praise!
