Preparing the Table
This Sunday is the Reflection Service for our Exodus, Part 1 series. In the place of a preached message, we will invite many of you to reflect and share publicly how the word has been at work in your heart and mind and life. Our reflection services are built on the expectation that the word of God will always be at work in the lives of believers.
We also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. (1 Thess. 2:13)
Last week we were reminded that as Moses recounted “all that the Lord had done,” it proclaimed the name (character) of the Lord so that others would be made glad in the knowledge of God. That’s another way to think of our reflection services. As we testify to all that the Lord has done in our hearts through the preaching and gathered worship around his word in Exodus 1-18, we proclaim his name and encourage one another to know him more truly and to be glad in him more deeply.
A great prompt question to help you reflect on the impact Exodus, part one has had upon you might be:
How has our preaching through Exodus 1-18 enlarged my knowledge of God and increased my gladness in God through Jesus Christ?
Kenny Clark will facilitate our time of congregational sharing and prayer with the help of Rob Lister & Junior Jamreonvit and Caleb Bilti will be leading us in our sung worship. Would you pray for them as they prepare?
Here are a few suggestions for how you can come prepared this Sunday to share in our reflection time.
- Read back through Exodus 1:1-18:12 prayerfully before Sunday.
- If you missed a sermon along the way (or want to relisten to one that made a particular impact on you), go back and listen to it here.
- If you are a note taker, take some time to read back through your notes prayerfully, as a means of remembering what the Lord has impressed upon you and taught you along the way.
- Reflect on how Exodus 1-18 has been timely for you in this season of life. How have you been comforted, encouraged, convicted? How has Jesus been magnified for you?
- Have a “reflection service dress rehearsal” conversation with someone else from our Grace family. Ask each other what God has been teaching you and how this section of scripture has been shaping you as a disciple in this season.
- If you’ve heard someone at Grace share about a specific way this Exodus series has been at work in his or her life, encourage them to have the boldness to raise their hand and share this Sunday.
Baptism Service – 6pm
We would love for you to join us again in the evening for baptisms and family time. We’ve got a number of important family matters to highlight and pray for.
See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry and maybe even with something to share!
