One of the ways our redemption through Jesus is “Exodus-shaped” is that it is both liberation and enrichment. Not just “rags to no rags,” but “rags to riches.” At the burning bush, the LORD promised Moses:
“I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders that I will do in it; after that He will let you go. And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty, but each woman shall ask of her neighbor, and any woman who lives in her house, for silver and gold jewelry, and for clothing. You shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians.” (Exodus 3:20-22)
In our passage this Sunday, as the LORD is preparing Moses and the people of Israel for the final plague that will compel Pharaoh to let them go, He reminds them of this promise and even gives instructions for “collecting their plunder.” (Exodus 11:1-3)
Ephesians 1 reminds us that in our redemption through Christ’s blood, not only do we have forgiveness of our trespasses, which he lavished upon us according to the riches of His grace (Eph. 1:7-8), but we have also obtained an inheritance (Eph. 1:11). And though we still wait to enter into the fullness of that inheritance, we’ve been “sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it”. (Eph. 1:13–14)
Our weekly worship is designed to remind us both of who we once were and who we now are in Christ. We’re no longer slaves, but sons and heirs through God (Gal. 4:7). We forget these realities far too easily and need to encourage one another all the more as we see the Day drawing near.

Randy Gruendyke will be preaching from Exodus 11:1-12:28 and Caleb Bilti will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for them this week as they prepare?
See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry!
