Christ’s Return

We believe in the personal, bodily and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission.

The Christian life is a waiting life.

“The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ (Titus 2:11–13).”

But it’s a productive watchfulness. After Jesus’ ascension (Acts 1) an angel had to tell the disciples to move along as they stood gawking. “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11)

Jesus told many parables about living with this constant expectancy of our Master’s return and nearly every book of the New Testament points us to this coming Day and what will follow it. Peter urged us to set our hope fully on the grace that will be brought to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:13).
