This Sunday we’ve come to the tenth and final plague, the death of the firstborn.
“I will pass through the land of Egypt… and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the LORD. The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” (Exo. 12:12–13)
As Randy pointed out last week, here we see both the judgment and salvation of God. And it’s another way our redemption is Exodus-shaped. When Jesus made his public appearance to begin His earthly ministry, His cousin John, the Baptizer, pronounced twice:
The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29, cf. 1:36)
Our call to worship every Sunday could be those three simple words. “Behold the Lamb!” The Christian life from beginning to end is the fruit of beholding Jesus, the Lamb of God. The apostle Peter would later write:
“If you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” (1 Peter 1:17–19)
Erik Thoennes will be preaching from Exodus 12:29-51 and Kenny Clark will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for them this week as they prepare?
In the evening, members are encouraged to join us for our quarterly member meeting at 5pm in the main sanctuary and all are welcome to join us at 6pm for our Lord’s Supper service which will include child dedication and family time.
See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry!

I was lost when you came for me
Held in chains by the enemy
But You broke them in victory
Now I’m free, I am free
